Syrian-US talks on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al Shaibani on Friday discussed with his US counterpart Marco Rubio local and regional developments and Damascus’s efforts in combating ISIS.
This came during their meeting in the German city of Munich, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, which began today and will continue until Sunday, according to the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Syrian delegation headed by al Shaibani met with the US secretary of state on the sidelines of the conference.
During the meeting, they discussed the most prominent local and regional developments, stressing Syria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, it added.
The statement pointed out that the US side confirmed Washington’s support for the Syrian government and the recent integration agreement with the SDF forces.
On January 30, the Syrian government announced the achievement of a comprehensive agreement with the SDF, the front of the YPG organization, with the aim of ending the state of division in the country and establishing a new phase of integration, considering that the agreement related to the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli and the integration of military forces is a complement to a previous agreement signed on the 18th of the same month.
According to the statement, the two sides also discussed Syria’s efforts in the fight against ISIS.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in various fields.
