Syrian air defenses deal with “Israeli aggression” on the airfield in the countryside of Homs, killing one soldier and wounding others and wounding an ammunition depot
Damascus announced on Monday that its air defenses had responded to an “Israeli aggression” targeting the airport in the countryside of Homs, which resulted in the death of one soldier and injuring two others, in addition to an ammunition depot and causing other material damage.
“Our air defenses are responding to an Israeli aggression and destroying two missiles that targeted the airport”, the official Syrian news agency SANA quoted a military source as saying.
The arrival of other missiles resulted in the martyrdom and wounding of two other soldiers, and the injury of ammunition warehouse, and damage to other material and some buildings and equipment.
The source added that the bombardment also resulted in the injury of a munitions depot, and other material damage to some buildings and equipment.
Another military source said nine missiles had been fired at the airport and that the offensive was continuing.
The attack comes just one day after Israeli forces launched a series of air strikes on several military positions inside Syria, killing three Syrian soldiers and wounding seven others.
The Israeli army said that the operation came in response to the launching of two rockets into the mountainous north of the occupied Golan Heights.
The military airport had already been hit by a series of air strikes by Israel, which said that the site had been attended by elements of the Iranian forces.
