Russian security authorities arrested the perpetrator of the Russian general assassination in Moscow
Russian authorities announced on Wednesday that the Federal Security Service has arrested the suspect in the murder of the commander of the Russian army’s radiological, chemical and biological defense forces, Igor Kirillov, a 29-year-old Uzbek.
The suspect was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence, which promised him $100,000 and a place to stay in one of the European Union countries.
The FSB added that the assassination was planned by Ukrainian intelligence, as the accused received the explosive device in Moscow and attached it to an electric scooter near General Kirillov’s residence.
The device was detonated remotely when Kirillov left the building, killing him and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov.
The Russian Investigative Service explained that the accused had confessed to his involvement in the operation after being recruited by the Ukrainian intelligence services.
The Russian authorities also confirmed that cameras installed near the explosion site were transmitting the footage in real time to the planners of the operation in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.
In Uzbekistan, the Interior Ministry is investigating the involvement of its citizen in the crime, while Russia has confirmed that it will continue to pursue those responsible.
