Russia: The St. Petersburg Economic Forum begins

The main session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia kicked off on Friday, with Russian President Vladimir Putin in attendance.

The main session was attended by Putin, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile.

It was also attended by Deng Shuixiang, Vice Premier of China, and Bahrain’s National Security Advisor and Commander of the Royal Guard, Nasser bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

In his speech, the Indonesian president addressed the situation in the Middle East, saying, “We’re following with sadness the conflict in the region… We hope that the parties will resolve the conflict peacefully”.

In turn, the Chinese Vice Premier welcomed the resumption of diplomatic relations between Russia and the United States.

He added that the two countries are global powers and permanent members of the Security Council, and that the resumption of communication between them is beneficial to the entire world and contributes to international stability and the rebuilding of the global economy.

In his speech, the Deputy President of South Africa said that the world is moving towards a multipolar system, and that he is confident that this system will provide sustainable development for all countries of the world.

For his part, Bahrain’s National Security Advisor said his country seeks to be friendly to all nations, expressing its willingness to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
