A Russian cargo ship laden with 200 tons of technical equipment, including a mobile digital complex for mapping and city plans, arrived in Tartous, a Syrian cargo port, in the context of military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Damascus.

The map complex consists of 5 trucks, 5 trailers and containers for auxiliary equipment, to be operated by 30 service experts for military and civilian purposes.

Among the tasks that this complex is capable of performing are surveying terrain, 3D modeling of maps, digital mapping, and other demarcation and demarcation work.

These Systems will be used to update the existing maps which were developed half a century ago, and many of the residential areas were destroyed due to the recent war in Syria.

Hassan Mohammed Ali, head of the topography department in the Syrian army, said that the Syrian armed forces desperately need this compound.

He pointed out that the Syrian cadres trained in Russia on the use of this modern equipment, pointing out that will be primarily to harness the compound mentioned in the Eastern Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus.

A joint Russian-Syrian working group is to be set up to develop electronic town plans and digital maps for all Syrian regions and cities.
