Russian forces continue their attacks on Ukrainian forces, which they recently suffering from an increase of casualties, lack of ammunition and manpower.

Moscow, announced on Saturday its control of a new village in an important sector of the front, near the main city of Chasiv Yar.

On Friday, Ukraine was subjected to widespread bombing, resulting in the deaths of at least five people and a severe power outage, while the Kremlin acknowledged that Russia was at war in Ukraine, after Moscow continued to use the phrase “special military operation” since the war started more than two years.

Ukraine, which has been facing difficulty since the failure of its counterattack in the summer of 2023, lacks a lot of equipment and is urging the West to speed up its provision of military aid, which is stuck in the United States and delayed on the European side.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the army liberated the village of Ivanevsky near Chasiv Yar, which may become the next target.

The Ukrainian village of Ivanevsky is located between Bakhmut, and the city of Shasiv Yar, which Russian forces seeks to control.

If Russian forces succeed in this, they could intensify their attacks on Kramatorsk, the large city in Donbas that is controlled by Kiev and increasingly targeted by Russian bombing.

To the south, the Russian army announced on Thursday its control of the village of Toninki, located west of the town of Avdiivka, which it took control of in February.

Ukraine and Russia once again exchanged air attacks on Friday night – Saturday, killing two people on the Russian side.

The Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, partially deprived of electricity since strikes on Friday, was targeted again.

The governor of the Russian Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, said that two civilians were killed and seven others were injured during a drone attack.

For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force shot down 31 of 34 Russian Shahid drones.

For weeks, the region has been subjected to multiple attacks, but they increased in the period leading up to the presidential elections in mid-March, which Vladimir Putin won in the absence of any opposition.

Power was cut off in Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, on Friday and Saturday morning, while about 275,000 people remain without power, according to Governor Oleg Sinigubov.

The city was attacked again on Friday night from Russian drones.

Ukraine witnessed a massive bombing campaign against its electrical facilities during the winter of 2022 and 2023, but these infrastructures remained somewhat untouched this year, due to strong air defenses.

Ukraine says it urgently needs weapons and ammunition to resist multiple Russian attacks.

For months, Washington has been unable to approve a new aid package for Kiev, as Republicans, supporters of former President Donald Trump, in the House of Representatives are obstructing the approval of the aid demanded by Democratic President Joe Biden.
