Russia denies Israel’s claims that it destroyed a nuclear reactor in Syria in 2007
Russia has denied the Israeli allegations of the existence of nuclear infrastructure in Syria as the alleged reactor at “Al kibar” site, which Israeli fighters bombed in 2007 on the pretext that it is a nuclear reactor under construction.
The permanent Russian representative to international organizations, Mikhail Ulyanov, said on Monday that the infrastructure to develop a nuclear program in Syria didn’t exist at all, and that the whole story fabricated.
According to him, the representatives of the United States later submitted to the IAEA secretariat information alleging the presence of a nuclear reactor in Syria producing plutonium.
“There is no logical explanation for this story, because no one needs the reactor,” he told Russian News agency Novosti, “because theoretically it was related to nuclear weapons and other infrastructure that were not in Syria at all on any day of the days”.
“We are fully aware that this whole story is fabricated”.
Noting that “it leaves a strange impression” that Washington didn’t announce the alleged data on this nuclear reactor imaginary only after the Israeli raid.
Israel at the end of March revealed secret information that its aircraft bombed ten and a half years ago a nuclear reactor in the Syrian province of Deir Al Zour, and claimed that it was in the final stages of construction, and published images to support the claim.
