Former Israeli Deputy National Security Advisor, Charles Freilich, confirmed that the fact that the armed wing of the Hamas movement planned and carried out offensive actions against Israel indicates the failure of Israeli intelligence.
“This is a failure from an operational intelligence standpoint, and obviously we were taken by surprise… The division headquarters responsible for the Gaza Strip is occupied and a state of chaos prevails,” Freilich told Politico.
On Saturday, the military wing of the Hamas movement announced the launch of Operation “al Aqsa Flood” against Israel.
For its part, the Israeli army announced the launch of Operation “Iron Swords” against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
