Politico: Europe is angry at the huge profits that America reaps from the war in Ukraine
Politico newspaper said that European officials are expressing their growing dissatisfaction with the work of the White House, which reaps profits not only from the Ukrainian crisis, but also from the lack of energy resources in Europe.
Politico newspaper pointed out that the unity of the Western allies has been noticeably shaken, while senior European officials become “angry at the Joe Biden administration” and accuse the Americans of benefiting from the general crisis, while the countries of the European Union suffer from it.
It quoted a European official as saying: “The matter is limited to the fact that if we look at the situation rationally, the country that benefits more from this conflict than other countries is the United States, because it sells more gas at higher prices, and also because it sells more weapons”.
Politico newspaper added that the biggest source of current tension in the European Union is environmental subsidies and Biden’s taxes, which, in Brussels’ opinion, unfairly limit trade in Europe and threaten to destroy European industries.
Despite the official opposition on the part of the European Union, the United States doesn’t intend to abandon its plans in this field.
Politico newspaper also quoted its source as saying that the leaders of the European Union had discussed with US President Joe Biden the impact of US policy on European markets, but it turned out that Biden knew nothing about its potential consequences for European countries.
The source stressed that the ignorance of the US side has become a major problem for European politicians.
