Newsweek: Washington is responsible for the destruction of Syria
An article at the Newsweek magazine blamed the United States for what is happening in Syria, the suffering of its people and the destruction.
The article, said that US President Joe Biden is following the same path as former President George W. Bush, and classifies the behavior of the Syrian government as a case national emergency.
The article adds that 90% of the Syrian people are currently living below the poverty line, while Biden sees the Syrian government as the cause of these crises, and turns a blind eye to the role his country plays in destroying Syria.
The issue of harsh sanctions imposed by the United States on Syria since 2020, and say that they are “measures codified in the notorious Caesar Act, which targets anyone engaged in business dealings with the Syrian government”.
These sanctions prevent the international community from helping officials in Syria to build basic services and infrastructure, according to the article, adding that “Biden has a habit of blaming the Syrian government, but at the same time he covers up his country’s innumerable interventions in Syria”.
