Newsweek: Ukraine will disappear this year and Moldova will become a part of another country

Newsweek magazine reported that an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking about possible concessions during peace negotiations under US President-elect Donald Trump, predicted that Ukraine wouldn’t be a sovereign state by the end of this year.
US President Joe Biden has been a great ally of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his fight against Russia, but it isn’t yet clear what Trump intends regarding Russia and Ukraine, Nikolai Patrushev said in an interview with the Russian Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper published on Tuesday, referring to Trump’s statement that if he were at the negotiating table with Putin and Zelensky, he would end the war “within 24 hours”.
Patrushev criticized the Biden administration, saying that “a large part of the world still looks to America, even though the American elite itself is divided,” warning that Ukraine could “cease to exist” in 2025.
The former Russian Security Council secretary asserted that Russians feel a “brotherly” bond with Ukrainians due to “centuries-old relations,” before adding that “the violent coercion of neo-Nazi ideology and the rampant hatred of Russia in Ukraine are responsible for the destruction of Ukrainian cities”.
Patrushev made similar predictions about Moldova, criticizing its leaders for their “anti-Russian policy,” as he put it.
“I don’t rule out that their aggressive anti-Russian policy could lead to their country becoming part of another state or disappearing altogether,” he said.
Moldova’s Foreign Ministry responded to Patrushev’s comments in a statement published by the Moldovan news agency Newsmaker that “such statements constitute an unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of our country and are aimed at destabilizing the region… The Republic of Moldova is a sovereign state that is constantly pursuing the path of democracy and European integration in line with the will of its citizens.”
According to the report, Ukrainian officials haven’t yet responded to Patrushev’s comments.
