New records of Coronavirus cases in the United States warning of the seriousness of the situation

Anthony Fauchi, the chief communicable disease official in the United States, warned that the emerging epidemic of the Coronavirus in the country was “not really good”, while dozens of states continue to record unprecedented Covid-19 infection rates on a daily basis.

“The situation is serious and needs to be dealt with immediately,” Fauchi said during a conversation that was broadcast live on the Internet with US National Institutes of Health chief Francis Collins.

He stated that the United States is still facing the first wave of the virus.

He added that young people should be more careful, given that there are indications that people under the age of forty represent larger segments of people infected with the virus, and he warned that these people could spread the virus, and that young people are not immune to this dangerous disease.

“Young people should not feel that they are immune from the disastrous consequences… They can get seriously ill,” he said.

In response to a question about his view of the situation in general, Fauchi replied: “The current situation is really not good”.

Meanwhile, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s approach to dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic.

Cuomo said that Trump, by not wearing a muzzle in public and not recognizing the pandemic threat, is facilitating the spread of the virus.

He added: “We have never been a country that excels because we refuse to acknowledge the problem”.

Fourteen states have set records of Covid-19 infection in the past few days, and about 250,000 people have been infected in the first days of July, according to a New York Times toll.
