The National Interest: The United States is preparing for a “nuclear war” against Russia
The US military is seeking to acquire a small nuclear weapon that can deter Russia in conventional wars, but this strategy will not make Russia back down, according to the National Interest magazine.
US policymakers are planning to use tactical nuclear bombs to make Russia rethink its conventional confrontations with US allies, the magazine said in a report published on Monday.
“The Americans may be trying to use this tactic to influence Russian nuclear doctrine, but this plan will not be of value to the Russians, especially when the Russian government feels that it is in the face of great danger”.
“America’s plan to expand the use of tactical nuclear bombs may be in support of the Russian view that the United States is seeking to dominate any conventional or nuclear confrontation”.
“The Americans are afraid that Russia will use nuclear weapons in any conventional war to resolve things in the right way.
They also argue that not developing a plan to use tactical nuclear bombs against Russia may make the Russians further escalate their allies in Europe”, the magazine says.
Five non-nuclear countries – Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Turkey – are giving the B-61 tactical nuclear bombs, according to Global Research Canada.
Data on US nuclear weapons in Europe dating back to 2014 show that the number of US nuclear bombs in those countries is 180 B-61S tactical nuclear bombs, and that the number of storage sites for those bombs up to 87 sites near the military bases you use Including two military bases in Italy.
While Italy has 50 nuclear bombs, Turkey has the same number of nuclear bombs it has obtained from the United States, while each of the other four has 20 nuclear bombs.
