Morocco acquires Turkish “Bayraktar TB2” drones

The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces have acquired 12 Turkish “Bayraktar TB2” drones, which military experts believe are among the most advanced drones.

Media reports have talked about the possibility of the Air Force acquiring MQ9 aircraft as part of the deal in which the Moroccan Armed Forces received 36 AH-64E Apache helicopters.
Morocco World News reported that Morocco bought in late 2019 an advanced anti-drone system called Bukovel-AD, designed by the Ukrainian company Proximus.
The anti-drone system is known worldwide for its high ability to early detection of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and its detection range is 10-15 km.
Under the agreement, Morocco will acquire four command ground stations, a configurable simulation system for piloting drones, and a digital system for tracking and storing information.
According to the same sources, a drone operations center is expected to be established at the Moroccan air bases, while the Moroccan military will receive training in addition to logistical and technical support.
It is scheduled to start supplying unmanned combat aircraft within a year, at a time when Morocco is making great strides to modernize its armament to ensure regional security and stability given its important strategic location.
By harnessing drones, it is possible to counter the movements of the Polisario forces, which rely on tactical plans in the form of indefinite maneuvers aimed at controlling and controlling the field, while drones will enable Morocco to sweep vast areas in the desert and determine the military targets that must be targeted precisely.
