Maariv: The United States prepares draft resolution in the UN Security Council… A US coup against Israel
Latest developments in the draft US resolution proposed in the Security Council regarding Gaza have been revealed, according to Maariv newspaper, the new draft resolution contains an “immediate and permanent ceasefire,” and a rejection of the anticipated military operation in Rafah by the Israeli army.
Reports indicated that the new draft contains a more stringent text on the issues of the ceasefire and Rafah, unlike the previous version, which was limited to the risks resulting from military action in Rafah to the civilian population only in the current circumstances.
The sources reported that the draft is in its final form, after several amendments, and is expected to be put to a vote in the UN Security Council in its current version.
According to Maariv, Israeli sources considered the final version of the project a serious deterioration in wording and tone, noting that it doesn’t allow ground military maneuvers of the Israeli army in Rafah.
According to reports, the Americans expressed their support for diplomatic efforts to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire as part of the prisoner release deal.
Israeli authorities estimate that the United States will seek to hold a vote on the resolution as early as this week, with the aim of accelerating the vote in the Security Council for fear of proposing a competing resolution that may have a clear negative impact on Israel.
