The Israeli military has launched a large-scale restructuring plan for its military forces, which it described as changing the face of the Middle East, according to the Israeli newspaper Maariv.

In an official statement, the IDF explained that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and his deputy, Major General Tamir Yadai, oversaw these changes, which came in the wake of the October 7 attack.

The plan aims to improve the Israeli army capabilities in ground and air operations.

The plan includes the creation of new infantry and tank brigades, and the strengthening of air and naval defense systems, particularly in areas classified by Israel as the second and third circles of threats.

These brigades will be distributed according to geographical divisions, such as the Tel Aviv, Negev, Northern, Jerusalem, and Plain brigades.

The IDF also announced the return of young reserve soldiers to service, totaling more than 10,000 recruits so far, as part of the “David’s Brigades” plan, with the creation of 11 new battalions, four of which have already undergone training.

On the eastern front, work is underway to develop an integrated military structure extending from the border triangle in the north to the north of Ramon Airport, including new infantry brigades and an engineering battalion, amid plans to recruit members of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community to cover the shortage in human resources.

On the air defense front, an additional brigade will be established and the Iron Dome systems will be expanded, in addition to enhancing the Israeli army ability to use drones to carry out offensive operations.

According to an Israeli military source, that the army is facing unprecedented challenges that require rapid and integrated development of its operational capabilities, stressing that building strength during times of conflict is considered one of the most difficult tasks in the history of the military institution.
