Maariv: The Israeli army is preparing for a scenario similar to October 7 attack from the Syrian front
The Israeli Maariv newspaper has warned of the increasing activity of Iranian-backed armed groups moving in southeastern Syria by open-top Toyota trucks, carrying fighters equipped with light weapons and heavy machine guns.
According to Israeli estimates, each truck is capable of transporting about 10 armed men equipped with rifles, pistols, grenades and knives, raising the level of concern in the security establishment.
Maariv points to the possibility that between 30 and 40 trucks from several points in the Syrian occupied Golan Heights could rush towards the Israeli border, a scenario that Israel believes requires a high security alert for fear of attempting to carry out a surprise attack.
Despite the checkpoints and tight military measures, Israeli security sources believe that a limited breach of a number of these trucks and their arrival at the kibbutzim, near the front line in the Golan Heights, could lead to a scenario similar to what happened on October 7.
