Maariv: The Egyptian soldier caused injuries on the 401st Armored Brigade before he was killed at the Rafah crossing

The Israeli Maariv newspaper revealed new details about the exchange of fire between the Egyptian and Israeli armies at the Rafah crossing on Monday.

Maariv said the Egyptian soldier fired at an Israeli military force and wounded soldiers from the 401st Armored Brigade, which responded with gunfire and martyrdom.

The Israeli newspaper added that in Israel they rushed to hold dialogue and coordination with Egypt so that the incident doesn’t develop into a complicated process.

Meanwhile, intensive contacts took place between Egypt and Israel after the incident, to prevent the development of the matter and the occurrence of a catastrophe that leads to the severance of relations between the two countries.

Talks between an Israeli officer and an Egyptian official, it was agreed to keep the issue out of the limelight.

Another security source in Egypt said he had asked Egyptian army reporters to stay away from this issue.

He noted that censorship is also activated on the Israeli side to prevent publications that would provoke anger on the other side.

Egypt and Israel are currently conducting a separate investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The Egyptian army announced the death of an Egyptian soldier on the border with Rafah, confirming the opening of an investigation into the incident.

At this moment, the soldier’s funeral to his final resting place takes place.

Egyptian media quoted a source yesterday as saying that Cairo warns against compromising the security and safety of Egyptian security personnel deployed on the border, after the shooting between Egyptian and Israeli soldiers in Rafah.

“The Egyptian armed forces are conducting an investigation by the competent authorities into the shooting incident in the border area of Rafah, which led to the death of one of the security personnel,” the Egyptian military spokesman said.
