The Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that given the level of losses of the Russian army in Ukraine, it has lost strength and will need at least five years to recover.
On Friday, the Ukrainian Ukranska Pravda newspaper quoted Reznikov as saying, “According to NATO intelligence, the Russians suffered heavy losses in tanks, artillery, armored personnel carriers and soldiers”.
“It won’t be possible to restore the regular armed forces of the Russian Federation before five years at the earliest, maybe 10 years,” he said, adding that the same is true of Russian missile stocks.
The Ukrainian official added that this war is, first of all, a war of resources, and NATO can calculate those resources.
Reznikov didn’t talk about any details related to the Ukrainian armed forces themselves.
Both sides have suffered heavy losses since the Kremlin forces invaded in February.
Since the outbreak of the Russian war on Ukraine, thousands of young Ukrainians have tried to escape military service.
In contrast, thousands of young men in Russia have also tried to evade military service.
After the mobilization announced in Russia last September, thousands fled abroad, and small Russian settlement areas appeared in some republics of the former Soviet Union.
