The Israeli Jerusalem Post newspaper said on Saturday that the Kremlin’s relations with what Israel describes as “terrorist groups” affect Russia’s “neutral relationship” with Israel.

The Jerusalem Post reported a statement by the Russian diplomat, Alexander Rudakov, who declared that Moscow will support Hezbollah in the event of a war against Lebanon, adding, “We’ve long remained captive to the illusion that Russia and Putin are our friends”.

The Jerusalem Post added that it’s not surprising that Russia has developed its relations with Iran so much, that it has launched, jointly, satellites capable of photographing the Earth, in detail, but Russia hasn’t admitted to spying on Israel.

Adding to Israeli fears, there are reports of new Russian military sites in Syria, just a few kilometers from the Syrian-Israeli border.

Recently, Russia announced joint exercises with the Syrian army in order to protect Syria’s territorial integrity, in the air, on land, and in the Mediterranean.

The Jerusalem Post added that there are fears of establishing a Russian military port in Port Sudan, on the Red Sea.

Russia’s hybrid attack against Israel is actually happening,” according to the Jerusalem Post said.

A few days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin described the Israeli response to the Hamas attack as genocide of the people of the Gaza Strip, stressing that Russia’s position on Palestine is firm and doesn’t change, and it’s necessary to resolve the Palestinian issue.
