Israelis erupts in anger against Netanyahu besieging his house and marches in the streets of Tel Aviv
On Saturday evening, the Israeli police suppressed protesters against the government of Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, and arrested 3 demonstrators in the city of Caesarea, which witnessed a demonstration near the Prime Minister’s house.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said on its website that the Israeli police suppressed a number of demonstrators in Kaplan Square in central Tel Aviv, during tens of thousands of people demonstrating in the city, demanding early elections and concluding a prisoner exchange deal with the Hamas movement.
A policeman also sustained bruises as a result of being beaten by a demonstrator during the Tel Aviv demonstrations, in which the demonstrators set fires throughout the city, according to the newspaper.
The police arrested 3 demonstrators in the city of Caesarea, on charges of inciting a riot, during their participation in a demonstration near Netanyahu’s house.
Other cities across Israel witnessed demonstrations in which thousands participated, including Jerusalem, Haifa, and Rehovot.
On Saturday evening, Israeli media announced that 5 demonstrators were injured after being run over during demonstrations in Tel Aviv.
On Saturday, Minister in the War Council, Benny Gantz, condemned the car-ramming incident carried out by a supporter of the government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, against demonstrators in the city of Tel Aviv, who demanded early elections and the conclusion of a prisoner deal with Hamas.
Gantz said, in a post on his X account, “The car-ramming incident in Tel Aviv is horrific and deserves condemnation”.
Gantz condemned the operation, saying, “We must all condemn all forms of violence”.
Commenting on a statement made by Netanyahu’s Minister of Transportation, Mari Regev, to the private Channel 12, in which she said, “There are demonstrators trying to kill Netanyahu,” Gantz said, “Likening the demonstrators to our enemies and accusing them of wanting to assassinate the prime minister is a lack of national responsibility”.
He continued. “It’s appropriate for all officials to act responsibly towards all segments of society, especially in these difficult days”.
Earlier on Saturday, 5 Israeli demonstrators were injured, one of whom was moderately injured, as a result of being run over by the vehicle of a supporter of the Netanyahu government, during the demonstrations that broke out in downtown Tel Aviv, demanding early elections and the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
Over the past week, tens of thousands of Israelis demonstrated in front of the Knesset headquarters in West Jerusalem, demanding the overthrow of Netanyahu’s government and the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal.
On Saturday evening, Israeli Channel 12 quoted Miri Regev, Minister of Transportation and member of the Israeli Cabinet for Security and Political Affairs, as saying: “There are demonstrators who want to assassinate Netanyahu”.
Last Wednesday evening, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted the Israeli police as confirming that there was no threat to Netanyahu and his family from the demonstrators, and that no one actually entered Netanyahu’s residential building or reached his door.
