Israeli warplanes launch violent raids on southern and eastern Lebanon as Hezbollah continue responding with missiles, drones and rockets strikes
Israeli warplanes launched a series of raids on several towns in southern, eastern and central Lebanon on Tuesday night, while breaking the sound barrier over the capital Beirut.
This comes on the third day of the most violent, extensive and intense Israeli aggression on Lebanon since the beginning of the confrontations with Hezbollah nearly a year ago.
The Israeli fighter jets raided residential buildings in several areas in southern and center Lebanon, including the southern suburb in Beirut.
In turn, the Lebanese Hezbollah announced, on Wednesday morning, that it had bombed the headquarters of the Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad) in the suburbs of Tel Aviv with a ballistic missile.
Hezbollah said in a statement on Telegram that it “launched a Qader 1 ballistic missile at 6:30 am on Wednesday (3:30 GMT), targeting the Mossad headquarters in the suburbs of Tel Aviv”.
The statement added that this headquarters is responsible for the assassination of Hezbollah commanders, and the pagers explosions across Lebanon a few days ago.
Hezbollah pointed out that this attack comes in support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in support of their valiant and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people.
According to the Israeli Army Radio, “One rocket was fired from Lebanon at the Gush Dan, in Greater Tel Aviv and Sharon areas in central Israel, and that it was intercepted”.
The Israeli Army Radio added that for the first time since the beginning of the war, Gush Dan has been exposed to gunfire from Lebanon, noting that the interception of the shell was preceded by the sounding of sirens.
The Israel Hayom newspaper quoted the army as saying that there is no change in the directives of the Home Front Command after the rocket incident, and that the educational process in Tel Aviv will proceed as usual.
Targeting the greater Tel Aviv area means that Hezbollah has expanded the range of its attacks on Israel to more than 100 km.
In recent days, the range of Hezbollah’s missiles in its attacks against Israeli targets has reached the cities of Safed, Acre and Haifa, which are between 20 and 60 km from the Lebanese border.
Since last Monday morning, the Israeli army has been launching an attack that is the most violent, extensive and intensive on Lebanon since the beginning of the confrontations with Hezbollah on October 8, 2023 and since the July War in 2006; resulting in 558 dead, including 50 children and 94 women, 1,835 wounded and 27,000 displaced, according to the latest data from the Lebanese authorities.
In contrast, sirens continue to sound in northern Israel, near the border with Lebanon, after Hezbollah fired hundreds of rockets at military sites and settlements.
Since October 8, Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably Hezbollah, have been exchanging daily shelling with the Israeli army across the Blue Line separating the two sides, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, most of them on the Lebanese side.
