Israeli Chief of Staff: We must prepare for a sudden war and the yellow line is the new border between Israel and the Gaza Strip
The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Eyal Zamir, confirmed that the so-called yellow line, which separates the areas controlled by Hamas and the areas under Israeli occupation, is considered the new border between the occupation and the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to prepare for the possibility of a sudden war.
Zamir described the Yellow Line during a field tour of the Gaza Strip as a front line of defense for the settlements and a line of attack, in a clear message to the Israeli government, although US President Donald Trump’s plan includes the occupation withdrawing from this line in the second phase, in exchange for the deployment of an international force to maintain stability.
According to a report by Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Zamir stressed that the army won’t allow Hamas to rebuild, stressing its control over large parts of the Gaza Strip and its position on the dominant lines of control.
Zamir added in his speech to the soldiers: “We’re working to thwart and remove threats on all fronts, and we won’t tolerate any threat to our forces, and we will respond strongly to any attempt… We’ve completed freedom of action here and on all fronts”.
He stressed the need for vigilance and readiness in all locations, stressing that preparing for a sudden war scenario is one of the pillars of the upcoming plan.
He also called for the strengthening of the reserve forces through new laws to ease the burden on soldiers and increase the efficiency of the army.
In a related context, the Israeli army announced that the Israeli navy has begun week-long maneuvers with the forces of the US Fifth Fleet, noting that the annual maneuvers will simulate a sudden war scenario.
