Israeli Chief of Staff: Iran is no longer a nuclear state
Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said on Saturday that Iran “is no longer a threatened nuclear state” following Israeli and American strikes on its nuclear program.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, Zamir, in closed-door talks with military officials, referred to the achievements of the operation against Iran and the significant damage inflicted on the nuclear program.
He added, “Even if various components of Iran’s nuclear program remain, the extensive damage to the entire chain, including scientists, nuclear facilities, and other elements of manufacturing, significantly distances it from the ability to develop nuclear weapons… The damage is likely so extensive that it will take years to repair”.
He stated, “In the days leading up to the operation, there was an understanding in Israel that we had reached a point where it was impossible to know if and when Iran would decide to acquire a nuclear bomb… At that point, risk management became too burdensome to contain”.
The Israeli channel 12 indicated that satellite images published this week revealed that the Iranians have begun work at the Natanz nuclear site.
It’s estimated that these are attempts to extract enriched uranium from the ground.
According to Maxar satellite images, it appears that Iranians have set up tents near the area bombed by the Americans.
The images also showed that two craters caused by the US attack last Wednesday were covered with dirt.
Additionally, the image showed tents erected near the area bombed by American B2 aircraft.
