Israeli army establishes military airport in Quneitra southern Syria
Several days after the arrival of Israeli military and logistical equipment to Quneitra Governorate from the occupied Golan Heights, the details of these movements began to become clear, as reports indicate the intention of the Israeli forces to build a small military airport outside the buffer zone.
The Israeli forces have begun to build a landing pad for military helicopters near the town of Hadar, north of Quneitra, in addition to preparing a site that includes several attached buildings that resemble in their structure a small military airport capable of receiving three helicopters of different sizes.
The site chosen by the Israeli forces is located in a strategic area near Mount Hermon, a site that can overlook the entire Quneitra Governorate and even the Damascus countryside, allowing the forces to easily monitor movements in the area.
The Israeli forces are seeking to establish another military base in the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Dara’a, where the al Jazeera barracks are being converted into a military site, and electricity is being extended to it through wires and poles from the nearest source in the occupied Golan.
The Israeli forces have removed mines from nearby areas to facilitate the movement of their forces towards the military points in Quneitra and the Yarmouk Basin.
There were also reports that the Israeli army opened fire on civilians who tried to approach one of its positions in the town of Kodna in the Quneitra countryside, which resulted in two of them being injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
It’s noteworthy that the Israeli army currently controls about 95% of the Quneitra Governorate since the departure of the former Syrian government last December, and prevents any attempt to approach the areas it entered outside the buffer zone in southern Syria.
