The Israeli Ministry of Defense is negotiating to sell 29 used “F-16” fighters to a Canadian company, at about $ 100 million.

The Israeli newspaper “Yediot Aharonot” said on Sunday, that this is expected to be the largest deal ever, to sell aircraft from the surplus Israeli air force.

There is talk of F-16 A / B fighters, which were acquired by the Israeli Air Force in 1980, and the last of them was decommissioned in 2016.

Fighter jets of the aforementioned type carried out the attack on the Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981, and were used in the invasion of Lebanon in 1982, but were later marginalized, with Israel purchasing more advanced F-16 fighters, according to the same source.

The deal is being negotiated on the Israeli side by the Defense Ministry’s Security Export Agency, which is responsible for selling used military equipment.

The Israeli fighters will not be sold to the Canadian government, but rather to a private company called Top Aces.

The company mentioned on its website has started to promote that its fleet will soon include the F-16 fighters, which will join the fleet of “Skyhawks” and “Alpha Jet” aircraft.

Top Aces provides the Canadian, US and Australian Air Forces with “enemy simulator” services, a force whose mission is to simulate the enemy as part of a military training or exercise.

The company also provides its services to the navy, which wants training in dealing with air strikes, according to the same source.
