Israel: Iran deploys for the first time an air defense system in Syria to counter Israeli attacks
On Monday, the Israeli Channel 12 reported that Iran had deployed a new air defense system in Syria to repel Israeli attacks.
Channel 12 added, on its website, that Iran has deployed the air defense system in the Damascus area, which will lead to a large-scale reduction in the activities of the Israeli Air Force in Syria.
According to reports, Iran has deployed the Bavar-373 anti-aircraft system, and Colonel Dawood Jaafari, a Revolutionary Guards officer who was killed in Syria last week, appears to be related to it.
Israeli Intelligence blog, Intelli Times reported on Sunday, based on Iranian sources, that Jafari had recently been involved in the deployment of Iranian air defense systems in Syria and Lebanon, led by Fredo Mohammadi Sakai, the IRGC Air Force coordinator, to the region.
Last week, officials in Iran indicated that Israel was behind the assassination of Jaafari by detonating an explosive device in his car, which was driving in an area near Damascus.
