Israel has tested short and medium-range ballistic missiles with a range of 400 km in the Mediterranean
Israel announced Tuesday evening that it had “successfully” tested short and medium-range ballistic missiles in the Mediterranean, in the context of tensions with Iran and its ally Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The Israeli Air Industries Company, a state-owned enterprise specializing in civil and military aerospace industries, praised these experiments that were conducted on an unspecified date but during the period of the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, from a ship towards a target at sea.
The range of these precision ballistic missiles, which are part of the Israeli long-range missile system (Laura), ranges between 90 and 400 km.
“In both scenarios, the missile was launched towards its path that it crossed, hitting the target with the greatest degree of accuracy,” the Israel Aerospace Company said in a statement.
The launch system, as well as the missiles, successfully accomplished the goals of these experiments, “with a margin of error of less than ten meters.
The company thanked the army for its support in these experiments.
In this context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the missile tests”.

These experiences come in the context of regional tensions with Iran.
In recent weeks, Israeli aircraft may have intensified strikes against pro-Iranian elements in Syria, an ally of Tehran.

In parallel, Israel is closely following the developments of the political, economic and social crisis in Lebanon and fears that the international community will provide assistance to Lebanon without seeking to reduce the influence of Hezbollah, the enemy of the Jewish state.
