Israeli media reported that the Cabinet met on Sunday with the heads of the coalition parties to discuss the response to US President Donald Trump’s announcement on the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.

During the discussion, attendees pointed the finger at President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, saying he was responsible for forming the board of directors, which includes representatives from Türkiye and Qatar — two countries that Israel strongly opposes.

According to the discussion, Kushner is taking revenge on Israel by forming this administrative council in response to Israel’s refusal to open the Rafah crossing.

According to Israeli Wala website, the Israeli leadership is consistently and well working with the US administration, with figures such as Marco Rubio (US Secretary of State), Pete Higseth (US Secretary of War), and Mike Huckabee (US Ambassador to Israel) as people who adopt a vision that is identical to the Israeli government in all matters, unlike Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, who sees things differently.

Wala website explained that the Israeli leadership sees Kushner as the person who obstructed the declaration and imposition of sovereignty over the West Bank in 2020, and that he is the one who puts obstacles because of his close and economic relations with various leaders of Arab countries.

In the past, he claimed at a Cabinet meeting that Kushner had fantasies about world peace, and that doesn’t always coincide with Israeli interests.

In addition, the Cabinet clarified that the statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, which stated that the prime minister specifically directed Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to communicate with the US secretary of state, wasn’t an “evasion of responsibility” as the media had accused him, but rather a desire to manage the crisis deliberately.

According to Wala, this measure represents a reduction in the level of handling of the issue between the foreign ministers (Sa’ar and Rubio), and not a break of the rules at the direct level between the prime minister and President Trump.

In any case, it was agreed to work with the US administration against the presence of Turkish or Qatari representation in the committee that will manage the Gaza Strip, and to continue to follow up during the next two weeks.

Following the US announcement of the formation of the bodies that will run the Gaza Strip, an extraordinary political drama developed between Israel and the United States.

While the White House has presented “Phase B” of President Donald Trump’s plan as a techno-institutional arrangement aimed at stabilizing the Strip on the “next day,” Israel is seeing a profound change, not only in the way Gaza is managed, but also in the balance of influence on its future.

In a related context, Jordan announced this morning that King Abdullah II had received an invitation to join the Peace Committee.

The dispute isn’t limited to the existence of a Palestinian civil administration in Gaza, but also to the composition of its accompanying bodies, mainly Türkiye’s participation.

For Israel, the inclusion of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan as one of the key members of this body represents a red line, after Israel made it clear to US officials over the past months that Türkiye isn’t considered a neutral or legitimate party to run the Gaza Strip, due to its political and ideological ties with Hamas.

“To understand the depth of the dispute, we must understand the structure of the infrastructure that Trump has put in place — a multi-layered, hierarchical structure, intended to separate strategic decision-making from day-to-day management on the ground,” according to Wala website.
