Iran’s 10 points for a permanent peace plan
Iranian media reported that Tehran presented a comprehensive proposal during negotiations held in Pakistan aimed at ending the escalation permanently, not just a temporary ceasefire.
The plan includes guarantees that Iran will not be subjected to any future attacks, along with a halt to military operations in various areas of tension, including Lebanon, and working towards the complete lifting of US sanctions.
The proposals also focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, with transit fees of up to $2 million per ship, to be shared with the Sultanate of Oman and later used for reconstruction projects instead of traditional compensation.
According to Iranian sources, the plan also includes regulating the movement of ships through the strait for a limited period according to the safe passage protocol under Iranian supervision, in addition to Tehran’s commitment not to seek to possess nuclear weapons, in exchange for American recognition of its right to enrich uranium within levels to be negotiated.
The initiative also includes the creation of a financial fund to compensate for losses, with the implementation of the ceasefire linked to official acceptance of these terms by the American side.
US President Donald Trump announced an agreement to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, including a suspension of military operations by both sides, with the aim of allowing for the completion of negotiations and reaching a final agreement.
He explained that the understanding includes opening the Strait of Hormuz completely and safely, stressing that this period represents an opportunity to resolve most of the remaining points of contention between the two parties.
Trump indicated that the United States had achieved its military objectives, and that the ten-point Iranian proposal could form a suitable basis for a long-term agreement, expressing his optimism that the crisis could be finally resolved soon.
