Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has approved a law suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), state television reported on Wednesday.

The law was passed by parliament following Israeli and US strikes on nuclear facilities, state television reported.

The TV reported that Pezeshkian ratified the law suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN agency, making it effective.

Iranian lawmakers voted last Wednesday in favor of a bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), state television reported, following a 12-day war during which the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and Iran responded by attacking Israel with drones and ballistic missiles.

221 out of 290 lawmakers voted in favor of the bill, one abstained, and none voted against it, according to Iranian state television.

According to Iranian parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf as saying, “The IAEA, which refused to issue even a limited condemnation of the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, sold its international credibility for the lowest price”.

He added, “Therefore, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran will suspend cooperation with this agency until the security of our nuclear facilities is guaranteed and Iran’s peaceful nuclear program advances at a faster pace”.
