Several reports highlighted the growing talk about a potential successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, who is about 85 years old, amid reports of his deteriorating health.

Iran has chosen Mojtaba Khamenei, the second son of Ali Khamenei, to succeed his father, after rumors spread that the Supreme Leader was suffering from a serious illness.

The Iranian 60-member Assembly of Experts held an extraordinary meeting on September 26 at the request of Ali Khamenei, where Mojtaba was chosen as his successor despite some objections.

Reports also confirmed that Khamenei may announce the transfer of power to his son Mojtaba during his lifetime to ensure a smooth transition and avoid any conflicts that may occur after his death.

Despite Khamenei’s advanced age, he regularly appears at public events and appears to be in good health, maintaining visual and auditory contact with those around him, especially during his meetings with religious students in the country.

Mojtaba Khamenei, born in 1969, is the son of Iran’s current Supreme Leader and is considered one of the leading candidates to succeed his father, who has held the position for more than three decades.
