Iran has issued a direct threat to the US aircraft carrier USS. Gerald Ford group deployed in the Red Sea, considering it a legitimate target for its military operations.

Ebrahim Zolfiqari, spokesman for the Joint Command of Iran’s Armed Forces, known as the “Seal of the Prophets”, said in video remarks on Monday that Tehran considers the presence of the US aircraft carrier a threat to Iran’s national security.

Zulfiqari added, in the video broadcast by the semi-official Fars news agency: “The aircraft carrier Gerald Ford in the Red Sea is a threat to Iran… Accordingly, the logistics and service centers of the Ford Carrier Assault Group are targets”.

This Iranian escalation comes at a time of heightened tension in the region, amid an open war between Iran and the US-Israeli alliance.

The USS. Gerald Ford aircraft carrier, which entered service in 2017, is one of the newest and largest aircraft carriers in the US fleet.

Recently, it encountered technical problems related to the vacuum suction waste discharge system, which is adapted from cruise ships.

Frequent blockages in the pipes disrupted many health facilities on board, posing a logistical challenge for the crew, according to previous reports.
