Sources inside Syrian opposition revealed that “Turkey intends to launch a military operation against the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) on Tuesday”, noting that it had instructed the opposition factions to prepare for the operation.

The source added, “The operation will start from several axes in northern Syria, including the Azaz region and the Tel Abyad region”.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier today that “Turkey may launch a military operation against the Kurdish factions in Syria if necessary”, adding that “the operation may be carried out when necessary and cannot be reversed”.

The Turkish parliament recently approved, by a majority of votes, the memorandum submitted by the Turkish presidency to extend the authority granted to Erdogan to send forces to carry out military operations in Syria and Iraq for another two years, starting from October 30.

Last week, the official Syrian news agency, SANA, said, “The Turkish army has introduced 200 military vehicles to the countryside of Idlib, northwest of Syria, and reinforced its points in the countryside of Hasakah (the area of Ras al Ain that it controls).

The agency quoted civil sources as saying that “more than 200 vehicles belonging to the Turkish occupation forces, loaded with quality weapons, ammunition and logistical materials, entered through the illegal Khirbet al Jawz crossing in two batches and spread in the western countryside of Idlib and Jabal al Zawiya to the northwest of the province, in order to strengthen its occupation points and provide direct support to terrorist groups controlling the region”.
