Hezbollah threatens to deal a big blow to Israel if their aggression expands to Lebanon
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement threatened on Friday to deliver a big blow to Israel if it “expands the aggression” on the Israeli-Lebanese border.
Since the start of the war in Gaza following the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, there has been a daily exchange of bombardments on the border between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, which supports its ally, Hamas.
Israel is bombing areas on the border, and on Friday its aircraft destroyed at least three homes in the town of Kafr Kila, according to the official Lebanese News Agency.
In this context, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem said in a statement, “When the Israeli decides to expand the aggression, it will receive the answer with a big slap and strong action”.
In turn, the head of the Hezbollah parliamentary bloc, Muhammad Raad, said, “The Israeli enemy isn’t ready for war in the face of what the Islamic resistance in Lebanon has prepared for it, and it will show him all its might”.
This comes after Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy said on Wednesday that the possibility of war breaking out in the coming months in northern Israel has become much higher than it was in the past.
On the same day, UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned that an “all-out confrontation” between the two sides would be completely disastrous”.
Since the start of the escalation on the border on October 8, more than 195 people have been martyred in Lebanon, including at least 142 fighters from the Iranian-backed Hezbollah.
Around 15 people were killed on the Israeli side, 9 soldiers and 6 civilians, according to the Israeli army.
On Friday, Israeli raids led to the total destruction of at least three homes in the village of Kafr Kila in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli aircraft targeted the three houses in the morning, leading to their complete destruction.
It also targeted another house in the afternoon, coinciding with an artillery shelling that hit a fifth house in the town.
The Israeli army announced in a statement on Friday that it carried out air strikes and artillery and tank shelling on Hezbollah observation points and terrorist infrastructure in the Houla and Kafr Kila sector.
For its part, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for three attacks, including two against a “deployment of Israeli enemy soldiers” on the border, using a “Burkan” missile capable of carrying large explosive devices.
