Turkish Haberler newspaper wrote, quoting a senior Turkish official, that Türkiye had full Western support, including lifting sanctions and liberalizing the visa system, after Ankara announced that Sweden’s request to join NATO would be referred to Parliament.

During the meeting between Türkiye, Sweden and NATO, Sweden announced that it would actively support the process of Türkiye’s full membership in the European Union, the modernization of the customs union with Ankara, and the liberalization of visas.

Ankara announced that it will refer to Parliament the protocols of Sweden’s accession to NATO, and will cooperate intensively with Parliament to ensure its ratification.
