Military expert Song Zhongping told the Global Times that despite the security agreements that Ukraine concluded with Germany and France, they won’t accept Kiev’s membership in NATO.
The expert added to the Chinese government newspaper that signing security agreements with France and Germany, two important European countries, sets a precedent that will encourage other European countries to follow suit and enhance cooperation with Ukraine, however, it doesn’t mean “Ukraine joining NATO”.
Zhongping added: “In the long term, these countries (France and Germany) will also avoid direct military conflicts with Russia and won’t allow Ukraine to join NATO”.
For his part, another political expert, Cui Heng, said that Europe will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine, but its volume and speed will be reduced.
Speaking about the security agreements that Kiev signed with Berlin and Paris, the expert pointed out that they aren’t binding and don’t mean any responsibility for France and Germany.
Cui Heng added, “Zelensky got the support he wanted from European powers by achieving a win-win situation with a document that had no substantive content”.
