Germany and Serbia sign a strategic partnership in the field of electric vehicles
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz signed a strategic memorandum of understanding on the production of raw materials, electric cars and their batteries.
Vucic expressed his happiness and pride at the press conference held on Friday, following the signing of the agreement reached within the framework of the Strategic Raw Materials Summit in the Serbian capital Belgrade.
He explained that the agreement is important for Europe and Germany, “This is a turning point for us, a big and important change to make a leap towards the future”.
“The agreement will provide us with a new investment of at least 6 billion Euros, and this will be the largest investment ever in our country”.
German Chancellor Scholz said, “The agreement provides a good perspective on the economic development of mining activities in the region”.
“This project is a European project; we need the European spirit… That is why I explicitly support the entry of the Western Balkans into the European Union,” he added.
European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic, who attended the summit, said the day was historic for Serbia and the EU, and the agreement offers great opportunities for both parties.
Sefcovic stressed that the agreement will strengthen the partnership between the EU and Serbia.
