Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed that his country has not yet sent troops to Libya, revealing that Somalia has asked Turkey to explore for oil in its waters.

Turkish media quoted Erdogan saying today: “We have not yet sent forces to Libya, but only advisers and trainers”.

He pointed out that the steps taken by Turkey regarding Libya achieved a balance that led to the ceasefire, and said: “The steps that we have taken regarding Libya have achieved a balance in the political track and we will continue to support this path in the field and on the negotiating table, and in the event of commitment to the ceasefire in Libya, the road will be Paving the way to a political solution.

Erdogan revealed that “Somalia asked Turkey to explore for oil in its waters”.

This announcement comes amid tensions raised by Turkey’s insistence to continue exploration activities in the eastern Mediterranean.
