Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that Turkey would keep its borders with Europe open to allow migrants to cross, taking the European Union not to help its country sufficiently to bear this burden.

“We will not close our doors”, Erdogan said, stressing that 18,000 migrants have crossed the Turkish border into Europe since Friday, but it is not possible to confirm the authenticity of this number.

On Saturday, Erdogan said he had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia leave aside in Syria and leave Turkey to deal with the Syrian government forces alone.

Turkey said after a number of its soldiers were killed in an air strike carried out by the Syrian government on Thursday that it would allow the migrants it hosts to cross freely to Europe.

Erdogan said in Istanbul today, Saturday, that 18,000 migrants crossed the border without providing any evidence immediately, adding that the number would rise.

Erdogan said in his statement, that Turkey does not seek to enter an adventure in Syria, or expand its borders, and that Ankara has no ambitions in the Syrian territories or in Syrian oil, according to “Anadolu.”

In his statements, Erdogan noted that the Turkish army did not go to Syria “at the invitation of President Bashar, but we went at the invitation of the Syrian people.”

Erdogan considered that the crisis in Idlib was woven in order to be imposed on Turkey and that the Turkish army would not leave Syria because “the Syrian people are demanding its survival” as he put it.

The Turkish President said that Turkey destroyed chemical sites in Syria, in his first public statements after the killing of more than 30 Turkish soldiers in an air strike in the Syrian province of Idlib.

“Several sites, including airports, ammunition depots, air defense systems and chemical weapons production facilities, were subjected to heavy fire and destruction,” Erdogan said.

“As of yesterday evening, seven chemical warehouses were severely bombed,” Erdogan added, neutralizing more than 2,100 Syrian soldiers and destroying about 300 military vehicles, including 94 tanks.

He added that 36 Turkish soldiers were killed in total in the air strikes on Thursday, which Ankara blamed on Damascus.

In its response to the statements of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he made today in Istanbul in front of members of his party, the Syrian News Agency (SANA) said today that “the president of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, continued to practice a policy of misleading and lying, to justify his aggression on Syrian soil and support his mercenaries from Terrorist organizations in it. ”

“The head of the Turkish regime … Claims to destroy chemical weapons facilities in Syria,” SANA added, noting, “Everyone knows that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has confirmed in its reports that Syria does not have any chemical facilities.”

In the context, SANA emphasized that “the Turkish regime’s exaggerations about inflicting losses on the Syrian Arab Army, aiming to cover up the great defeats that were inflicted on its terrorist tools and its criminal scheme against the Syrian people.”

SANA indicated that the army units are engaged in violent clashes against elements of the “Nusra Front” and groups supported by the Turkish regime on the axis of Saraqib in the southeastern Idlib countryside, in parallel with the implementation of rocket strikes in the areas of the spread of armed groups in the areas and farms west of the city of Saraqib, which led to the incursion of the militants Significant losses in personnel and equipment.

On Friday, February 28, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that one soldier was killed and two others wounded by bombing in Idlib, Syria

The ministry said in a statement that its forces had responded to the fire sources and had “unified 56 elements of the Syrian government.”

The Syrian province of Idlib is witnessing violent clashes, after armed groups carried out a series of attacks last week targeting the locations of the Syrian army, which its units were able to confront on more than one axis.
