CNN reported on Monday the details of an audio recording revealing the last moments in the life of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in his consulate in Istanbul.

The text of the sound recordings starts from the moment Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, where the source said that the Saudi journalist noticed soon after he entered the consulate that things did not go well when he saw one of the people who met him.

Khashoggi asked him: What are you doing here?

The source said the sound, which was identified in the recordings, was to Maher Abdul Aziz Al Muttrab, a former Saudi diplomat and intelligence officer who works for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“You cannot do that, there are people waiting for me outside”, Khashoggi said, referring to his fiancée Khadija Cengiz.

Without any further discussion between Khashoggi and the man he spoke to, according to the source, the recordings indicate that several people attacked Khashoggi, followed by noise and Khashoggi was soon struggling to get air.

“Khashoggi’s voice was heard amidst the noise”, he said “I can’t breathe”.

The text of sound recordings indicates the noise and sounds of several other people.

The source, who read the audio recordings of Khashoggi’s death, said that “it is clear that the killing was not a clumsy attempt, but a plan prepared in advance to kill Khashoggi”.

The source, who had seen the recordings, spoke of the sound of Khashoggi’s body being cut off with a saw, while the aggressors were advised to listen to music to cover the sound of the chopping.

He also pointed out that the text of the recordings referred to several telephone communications to report developments, and the Turkish authorities believed that contacts had been made with high-ranking officials in Riyadh.
