Axios website published a long article in which it indicated that the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump is seeking to change the President and government of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.

Axios quoted an official in the new US administration as saying: “The president-elect’s team wants Maduro to meet the ‘same fate’ as Syrian President Bashar al Assad, who fled on December 8, 2024.

“Regime change in Venezuela doesn’t necessarily mean military action,” he added.

He continued, “We’ll not mind if Maduro becomes Assad’s neighbor in Moscow”.

The article indicated that Trump’s interest in changing power in Venezuela has increased against the backdrop of US President Joe Biden’s intention to issue a decision from Congress to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Earlier, US administration officials revealed that the United States had offered a $25 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

It’s worth noting that the Syrian opposition factions announced at dawn on Sunday, December 8, in a brief statement on state television after they had extended their control over the capital Damascus at dawn today, the fall of the regime of Bashar al Assad – who fled to Moscow, where Russia granted him asylum.
