Argentina’s President Calls for Coup in Venezuela Against Maduro
Argentine President Javier Milei has called for a coup against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro after he was declared the winner of a third presidential term.
In a post on X, the far-right Argentine President, Milei, accused President Maduro of being a dictator.
Milei claimed that the election results in Venezuela, show Maduro’s defeat, and considered that the people ended the communist dictatorship.
He explicitly called for a coup in Venezuela, saying, “Argentina hopes that the armed forces will defend democracy and the will of the people this time”.
The opposition in Venezuela announced on Monday that it would not accept the results of the elections in which Maduro won a third presidential term.
The candidate of the opposition United Democratic Platform coalition, Edmundo Gonzalez, explained in a press statement that they reject the election results announced by the National Electoral Council.
Gonzalez, targeting the National Electoral Council without naming them, said they broke all the rules, and that all Venezuelans know what happened.
Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said, “We want to announce to the whole world that Edmundo González is the new elected president of the country… Everyone knows that we won”.
In return, Maduro stressed the need for everyone to respect the results of the presidential elections held in the country on Sunday, calling for a national dialogue.
On Sunday, voters in Venezuela went to the polls to choose a new president for their country for the 2025-2031 term.
Ten candidates competed in the elections, most notably the current president Maduro, the candidate of the Great National Pole, and the candidate of the opposition United Democratic Platform coalition, Edmundo Gonzalez.
