Iran’s Supreme National Security Council issues a statement to the people following the announcement of the agreement with Washington
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced early Monday that an understanding had been reached with the United States to end the war between the two countries, following months of intensive negotiations mediated by regional and international parties.
In an official statement, the Council explained that the talks had resulted in finalizing a memorandum of understanding concerning the cessation of military operations between the two sides, noting that the agreement came after lengthy rounds of negotiations that lasted several months.
According to the statement, the understanding includes an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including the Lebanese arena, in addition to the complete lifting of the naval blockade imposed on Iran.
The Council confirmed that the official signing of the memorandum of understanding would take place on June 19, clarifying that negotiations regarding the final agreement would resume after both parties fulfilled their commitments outlined in the memorandum.
Tehran also expressed its appreciation for the role played by Qatar and Pakistan in supporting efforts to reach this understanding.
In the same vein, Iranian television officially announced a peace agreement with the United States, stating that Washington had agreed to end the military confrontation.
For his part, US President Donald Trump confirmed reaching an agreement with Iran, noting that steps had been taken to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift maritime restrictions imposed on Tehran.
The Pakistani Prime Minister also welcomed the understanding reached, praising the efforts of the United States and Iran in prioritizing diplomatic solutions, and commending the role played by Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye in bridging the gap between the two sides.
