The Syrian President calls on Trump to lift the remaining sanctions on Syria to revive the economy

The Syrian transitional President Ahmed al Sharaa called on his US counterpart, Donald Trump, to lift the remaining sanctions imposed on Syria, considering this step essential to supporting the national economy and improving the living conditions of citizens.

The Syrian Presidency stated in an official statement that Sharaa held a phone call with Trump, during which they discussed bilateral relations, as well as political and security developments in the region and the challenges arising from escalating regional tensions.

The two sides also discussed prospects for joint cooperation that would contribute to strengthening stability within Syria and accelerating economic recovery in the coming period.

During the call, Sharaa emphasized the importance of relying on political solutions and dialogue to address regional crises, stressing the need to avoid escalation and work to enhance security and stability in the region.

The Syrian president pointed to the importance of continued international support for Syria during the reconstruction and recovery phase, explaining that lifting the remaining sanctions would revitalize the economy, stimulate investment, and create suitable conditions for the return of development projects to various vital sectors.

For his part, Trump affirmed the United States’ interest in Syria’s stability and its support for reconstruction and recovery efforts, noting his continuous monitoring of developments in Syria and the region.
