Israel Hayom newspaper reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed, during a meeting of the Security Cabinet on Monday evening, the possibility of resuming the war against Iran for the second time in 24 hours.

The newspaper said: “Netanyahu held another meeting of the inner cabinet Monday evening, and the focus of the discussion was the possibility of an additional round of fighting with Iran”.

This is the second time Netanyahu has convened a cabinet meeting in the last 24 hours.

On Sunday evening, Netanyahu convened a cabinet meeting following a phone call with the US president to coordinate “the next step with Iran”.

Israel Hayom quoted a source familiar with the US moves as saying that “a new American attack on Iran isn’t a question of whether it will happen, but when”.

According to the source, “the planned attack will be different from previous ones, and will target objectives that US President Donald Trump has avoided targeting so far”.

The Israeli newspaper quoted an Israeli security sources as saying: “Steps and preparations have been taken in anticipation of a possible new round of fighting with Iran”.

There are growing fears that the truce in place since April 8 between Iran and the United States could collapse if an agreement to end the war, which has raised energy prices and inflation levels globally, isn’t reached.
