The Israeli army officially announces a ceasefire with Iran and confirms the continuation of the war in Lebanon
The Israeli military said Wednesday it had halted fire against Iran after extensive overnight raids, but stressed it would remain on high alert to respond to any breach of the agreement announced by Washington.
The army said in a statement, “Based on directives from the political level, the army has halted fire in the battle with Iran and remains on high defensive alert and ready to respond to any breach”.
The Israeli army also confirmed on Wednesday that the battle in Lebanon continues and that the ceasefire agreement announced by Washington with Iran on Tuesday night does not include the northern neighbor.
The Israeli army said in a statement, “The battle in Lebanon continues and the ceasefire doesn’t include Lebanon.”
In this regard, French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday described the ceasefire announcement in Iran as very good and called for it to be fully respected in the coming days and weeks in order to negotiate with Tehran on all outstanding security issues, demanding that it fully include Lebanon.
“We expect, in the coming days and weeks, full respect for the ceasefire throughout the region, and that negotiations will be held that will allow for a permanent settlement of the nuclear, ballistic and regional issues related to Iran, which is what France has been calling for since 2018,” he said at the start of a meeting of the Defense Council.
He added, “What we hope for is to ensure that the ceasefire fully includes Lebanon in the long term.
