Iranian media publishes new photos and videos of destroyed US aircraft wreckage during attempt to rescue US pilot
Photos and videos published by Iranian media showed two Black Hawk helicopters and a US C-130 military transport plane, all destroyed in southern Isfahan, during the search for the American pilot.
US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the second pilot was rescued after the US military carried out one of the boldest searches and rescue operations in US history.
The New York Times also reported, citing a source, that two US transport planes broke down inside a remote base in Iran while carrying out a rescue mission.
It added that orders were issued to blow up the two disabled planes inside Iranian territory to prevent their seizure.
On the Iranian side, the headquarters of Iran’s Khatam al Anbiya announced the failure of Washington’s attempts to rescue the commander of the fighter jet shot down by Iranian missiles.
“The enemy’s attacking planes south of Isfahan, which include two Black Hawk helicopters and a C130 military transport plane, were hit and are burning with the fury of the heroic fighters of Islam,” the statement added.
“Trump has created a state of ambiguity among the public to justify the bitter defeat and failure of his cowardly army,” the statement said.
