New shipment of military equipment arrives in Mali
The Malian government has announced the arrival of a new shipment of military equipment, including combat armored vehicles, rocket launchers, heavy artillery and modern reconnaissance mechanisms, with the aim of boosting efforts to counter armed groups.
The Malian government said on its website that the equipment, which was seen by residents of the capital Bamako on Saturday evening, as it was on its way to the Kati garrison, also includes strategic equipment for the military engineering corps, and is coming to complete major deliveries that took place in mid-January.
It noted that the residents of Bamako witnessed a comprehensive parade of sovereignty equipment and that they gathered on the sides of the roads without hiding their enthusiasm, with the sense of pride was palpable.
Mali has bolstered its military arsenal since the military came to power in 2020, and it has strengthened ties with Russia, Türkiye and other allies, at the expense of its traditional ally France, but the country has yet to overcome the security challenge, with armed attacks sometimes reaching the capital, Bamako, and nearby areas.
