Report: Trump might visit Syria soon to meet with Sharaa again
After US President Donald Trump described his meeting with Syrian transitional President Ahmed al Sharaa, which took place last week, as very good, media reports have reported the possibility of a close visit by Trump to Damascus.
According to reports, Syria’s efforts to arrange an official visit by the US president to the Syrian capital have begun.
Trump recently stated, “more agreements will be announced soon, and if these agreements are signed, I’ll go to Damascus to announce them”.
At Monday’s meeting at the White House, Trump praised his Syrian counterpart, calling him a very strong man capable of rebuilding his war-ravaged country.
The visit was a historic event, as it was the first visit by a Syrian president to the White House since Syria’s independence in 1946.
The meeting coincided with Sharaa’s visit to New York last September, where he became the first Syrian president to address the UN General Assembly in decades.
